The spring wire frame flexes rather than holding a rigid shape, so the carrier can compress slightly to fit under seats with varying under-seat dimensions — particularly useful on regional aircraft where clearance is lower than on widebody jets. Once the seat is vacated, the frame returns to its original shape.
The zippers are described as locking/secure rather than using a separate padlock. On escape-proof carriers, this typically means the zipper pulls can be clipped together or tuck under a flap that the pet cannot manipulate with a nose or paw. The mesh panels are also fixed to prevent pushing out.
