The squeaker is encased inside the plush body — typically in the center or chest area of the design. It is not designed to be user-replaceable; the toy is built as a single unit. If the squeaker fails, the plush shell can still serve as a fetch or tug toy.
The 100% polyester plush is soft enough for puppy gums and the toy is listed as suitable for the teething phase. However, puppies are vigorous chewers — inspect the seams regularly and remove the toy if the outer fabric begins to tear, to prevent ingestion of the polyester fill.
The polyester construction holds up well for light to moderate chewing and fetch sessions. It is not designed for aggressive power chewers who can destroy fabric toys in minutes — for those dogs, a rubber or nylon chew toy would be more appropriate. The squeaker mechanism may become quieter over time with heavy use.
Polyester plush can get wet without immediate damage, but repeated outdoor use in damp conditions will compress the fill and may introduce mildew into the seams. Rinse with mild soap and water after muddy play sessions and air dry completely before storing — Pup R Us recommends this as standard care for all plush toys.
The available sizes correspond to different dog sizes — larger versions tend to house a larger squeaker mechanism, which produces a louder squeak. For small dogs, the smaller variant produces an appropriately pitched squeak that keeps their attention without being overwhelming for nearby people.
